Friends of Heron

Who are the Friends of Heron and what do we do?

We are a group of volunteers drawn from parents/carers, staff and governors connected to Heron Primary. We organise social events that we hope appeal to all; in doing so, we raise funds to buy additional items for the school (not available via normal school funding). Our aim is to foster, support and advance the education and well being of all pupils of Heron. Full details about our aims, what we have done and committee membership can be found in the documents below.

How can you help us?

Friends of Heron is a fantastic way for you to engage with your child’s education. You don’t have to join the committee or help at every event or even bake cakes if you don’t want to. There are lots of ways you can join in even if you don’t have much time.

Here are some of the ways you could help:

  • You might be able to offer up some particular skills (computers, gardening, marketing, painting).
  • You may work for a company that might be prepared to donate a raffle prize or sponsor a stall at the Christmas Fair or Summer Fete.
  • You could volunteer to help plan and organise an event such as our Family Bingo Night. If this sounds too much you could simply attend and support events by buying raffle tickets, donating cakes, books, toys and raffle prizes!

We organise fundraising and social events during the year including the Summer Fete, Christmas Fair and Family Bingo Nights. Any help with fundraising or any donations to FoH are very gratefully received. Groups or individuals wishing to make a donation to school or to assist the Friends Association are cordially invited to contact school and are very welcome to arrange a visit to see the work we do.

If you are interested in joining us or can offer some help you can either contact the school or complete this form and return it to school for the attention of FoH.

Please do come and join us - we’re a friendly bunch!
