Our Vision

To strive to ensure that every child receives the best possible education in a secure, caring, friendly and stimulating learning environment.

Our Values/British Values

We seek to develop skills, attitudes and techniques which will enable our children to achieve independence and responsibility in the learning situation. We aim to:

  • provide a balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum.
  • develop a lively and enquiring mind, encouraging pupils to acquire knowledge, skills and practical abilities and the will to use them.
  • stimulate and develop pupil's use of language and numbers to enable each child to communicate effectively in the world of work.
  • develop the pupils natural curiosity about the world around them through science and technology.
  • develop qualities of mind, body, spirit, feeling, imagination, artistic impression and aesthetic sensitivity.
  • achieve good health and physical development through physical education.
  • to encourage them to actively participate in one or more of the extra-curricular activities so they will have the opportunity to develop their talents, a positive self-image and to enable them to work collaboratively with their peers.
  • to develop and maintain high standards of behaviour, dress, courtesy and self-control.
  • to provide a caring community, where every child feels appreciated and from which the child receives understanding, help and advice.
  • to develop a sense of pride and ownership in their school.

We actively seek to promote British Values throughout all aspects of school life. We equally seek to challenge opinions and actions which may be contrary to fundamental British Values. You can find out more about how we promote British Values in school here.

Our Drivers

The 5 values that we consider to be fundamental to our learning are:

  • H ealthy Living
  • E xpress Yourself
  • R espect
  • O ur World
  • N ever give up

We refer to these as our drivers. These drivers are taught and promoted throughout each child’s journey through Heron School to develop their spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding and are referred to when reflecting on what we have learned.
